Several months ago, we learned that Governor Rendell zeroed out funding for Pennsylvania's eight public television stations in his FY2010 budget. At that time, the stations began a campaign to mobilize the public to let the governor and all of the state legislature know that public tv plays a very important role in all of the communities across Pennsylvania.
We are so very thankful to MiND's viewers and members, who have sent more than 2,500 e-mails to our region's legislators. We know that the message is being heard by key decision makers - and in politics, we know that volume counts.
Today marks a very important date in the budget battle - June 30th is the date by which the state budget is required to be passed. However, due to the many issues that need to be resolved with this budget, deliberations will be ongoing into July and perhaps even longer.
At this key moment, when legislators will be under increased pressure to come to an agreement, we need you to make your voice heard just one more time. A new site has been built to send advocacy e-mails to key decision makers in the budget process - so please take a moment TODAY to visit: http://www.wqln.org/advocate/demonstrate.aspx.
